Eike Interactive works directly with the Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) marketing department providing End-to-End services. We lead the effort in rebuilding the PlayStation.com site from the ground up and continue to provide strategic direction, improvements, and ongoing support services.
SCEA is the clear leader in the console gaming market. The PlayStation®2 is the leading game console with over a hundred million consoles sold to-date. Additionally, SCEA publishes a wide variety of games and supports third party game development for their consoles. SCEA maintains a growing and hugely profitable business model, despite facing formidable competition.
PlayStation.com is a high profile and high traffic site that serves as the online window for its fans to get information about games, hardware, and the company itself. The site supports a large online community that is loyal, savvy, and discerning. We provide services to support the infrastructure and integration that enables SCEA to cater to their special demands.
To meet the demands of a leading game console and its millions of sophisticated fans, the contents of PlayStation.com has to always be fresh and in the latest rich media format. To enable SCEA to support the consumers' demands, Eike Interactive architected and implemented a robust Content Management System (CMS) that allows real time update and publishing of content by SCEA's business users.
It was important that business users have control over managing, creating, and updating content to keep up with the pace of PlayStation.com. The Content Management System is designed so that from content creation to content publishing to the site, it is all accomplished without an engineer; all in the hands of the business users.
A snapshot of PlayStation.com content requirements, which are supported by the Content Management System:We architected the PlayStation.com application and physical infrastructure to be scalable to meet the demands of millions of page views each day. This scalability is critical to meet the continually growing demands and success of the PlayStation brand.
As each game title has its own unique design and game play, its site pages need to illustrate this distinction. To create this individuality from game to game, the PlayStation.com infrastructure supports and serves up hundreds of such minisites.
External content is automatically fed into the Content Management System. Workflow process is added to enable SCEA to review and approve each piece of contents.
The Consumer Database is a critical asset for SCEA marketing. We implemented a secure user authentication and profile management system as well as middleware to integrate the data into their Consumer Database.
The message boards on PlayStation.com are implemented and managed by a third party vendor. However to provide a seamless consumer experience, we implemented a Single Sign On (SSO) solution that makes the message boards and PlayStation.com appear as one.
We specify and develop custom ongoing reports on traffic and user behavior on the web site. These reports enable SCEA to measure campaign performance as well as gain better understanding of their users as a whole.
With any large scale web infrastructure, performance analysis and monitoring are critical to keep the site running smoothly. Eike Interactive provides:
